Titos Henry de Souza was born in Mombasa, Kenya in 1927. He was one of Kenya’s top sportsmen and his hoard of medals bears testimony to this. He also played hockey with the wizard Dhyan Chand and then, Like a lot of other Asians, he chose to leave in the early 60s as Indians were being discriminated against by the new Governments in charge all across East Africa. He served a stint in the army and then moved back to his homeland Goa and into his ancestral home in Arpora. His wife Lucille, who had worked for the American Embassy in Kenya followed him and also moved back with him. Back in Goa, Tito , being a man of action, got bored very easily and after managing a few Hotels and Restaurants he then decided to set up his own restaurant. So, in the year 1971, he founded a small Portuguese Goan-styled house on a beautiful stretch of beach near Baga and named it RichDavy, which was a play on words conjoined to represent his sons Ricardo or Richard and David. Titos, who was one of the few people who spoke fluent English, having got a degree at Cambridge, had his restaurant overrun by all the Expats from across the world. These people were fleeing western civilization and Vietnam and other wars and were rebelling against their generation and loved Tito and Goa. Superstars like the Beatles with Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Pete Townsend of the Who, Richard Gere, Kate Moss, Dire Straits, Remo, and others all visited Tito and even played in the Balcony overlooking the Blue Seas of Baga. This brought in even more expats and Tito became a legend. However, tragedy struck and Tito passed away at the young age of 56 in June 1983 leaving behind his wife Lucille and sons Ricardo and David.
